Introduction to Property Law and Practice

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The primary aim of this course is to introduce students to general principles of law relating to the nature, acquisition and transfer of interests in land, and to the practical aspects of property transactions, such as title searches, contracts for the sale of land, conveyancing procedures and registration of title.

 

Objective

At the end of this course students will be able to:

1.    Explain the classification of property

       2.    Define the terms: co-ownership, lease, licenses, mortgages, easements and restrictive                       covenants

3.    Describe condominium law

4.    Explain the term registration of title

       5.    Describe the procedures involved in acquisition and property transactions

       6.    List the conveyancing procedures
