Mrs Susan Sarah Owen was appointed Acting Deputy Director of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) in The UWI Open Campus Country Sites in February 2016 subsequent to assuming the position of Head of The UWI Open Campus St. Kitts and Nevis in November 2010. Before joining the Open Campus, Mrs Owen worked as an instructor in the Foundation Language Programme in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. She holds a BA in Literatures in English from The University of the West Indies (St. Augustine Campus) an MA in English from The University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus) and is pursuing an EdD in Educational Leadership in Higher Education with The University of the West Indies, Open Campus.

As Director of The UWI Open Campus CPE Centre, Mrs Owen will be guided by the vision of the Centre as a key enabler for the Open Campus to be the region’s premier provider of continuing and professional education and the mission of increasing access to relevant and innovative continuing and professional education designed to assist adult learners in achieving their full potential. This is in line with the Triple A Strategy of The UWI and the Open Campus’ key strategic initiative of increasing the level of CPE students as a pillar of expanding access and improving financial agility of the Campus. Guided by The UWI core values of integrity, excellence, diversity, gender justice and student centredness. Mrs Owen looks forward to continuing to develop and strengthen existing best practices in CPE while exploring and creating new partnerships and processes for continuing regional success in CPE.
