| Introduction |
The development of the labour market in the Caribbean requires an increase in the number of individuals who are able to create jobs for themselves and others within a regional framework. The Certificate in Entrepreneurship will serve to prepare Caribbean citizens who wish to increase their entrepreneurial knowledge base to launch and manage successful small business ventures.
The course content of the Certificate in Entrepreneurship will provide students with the core competencies required to succeed in a start-up business venture. Developing an entrepreneurial outlook and entrepreneurial skills within the region will propel regional economic development through job creation and increased production. This certificate will prepare students for greater productivity in the workplace and enable them to develop their own businesses. | |

| Who is this programme for? |
The Certificate is targeted at mature learners who are working full or part-time and/or are self-employed individuals who:
• Plan to establish a micro, small or medium size business.
• Are employed in or own an existing small business and wish to enhance their entrepreneurship skills and knowledge to help them better grow and manage their business.
• Are mid-career professionals who wish to explore the potential of starting their own business.
• Are individuals who wish to pursue an undergraduate programme at a later date and wish to experience the type of courses and content offered in a management programme without having to make a four year or more commitment immediately. |

| Programme Structure |
The Certificate in Entrepreneurship will be offered online by the Pre-University and Professional Programmes Department of the Open Campus, UWI.
Students pursuing the Certificate in Entrepreneurship will undertake 24 credit hours or 8 courses (3 credits each) over 3 semesters.
Semester I

• Entrepreneurship Basics: Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management
Semester II
• Introduction to Financial Accounting

Semester III

| When will the programme start? |
The programme starts in August and January of the academic year. |

| Entry Requirements |
There are no matriculation requirements associated with the Certificate in Entrepreneurship. As such, no English Language or Mathematics Diagnostic Tests are administered to applicants. Deficiencies in those areas are addressed on a case-by-case basis, drawing upon a set of General Education Courses that form part of the Certificate. |
