| Introduction |
Explore the many facets of the teaching of Language Arts to children with the BEd Primary (Language Arts). This programme is offered in collaboration with the School of Education, St. Augustine and targets practitioners in the field of education. It is designed to help practitioners develop the knowledge and skills required to understand the pedagogical challenges associated with teaching English as a second language, and design, develop and implement appropriate and effective programmes based on best practice. | |

| Who is this programme for? |
This programme targets practitioners in the field of education. It is designed to explore with practitioners, the many facets of the teaching of Language Arts to children.
It aims to help practitioners:
(i) develop the knowledge and skills required to understand the pedagogical challenges
associated with teaching English as a second language, and
(ii) design, develop and implement appropriate and effective programmes based on
best practice. |

| Programme Structure |
• The programme consists of a mix of compulsory core courses and professional courses worth
a total of 90 credits.
• Students taking this primarily distance-delivered programme will normally pursue 9-12 credits by
distance during a semester.
• During the long vacation period from July to mid- August, courses may be offered face-to-face
at the St. Augustine campus. |

| Entry Requirements |
1. Successful applicants must:
(i) satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University
(ii) must hold a Teachers’ diploma from a recognised Teachers’ College or
must have successfully completed an approved programme of training
for certification as a teacher in his/her country. |
